Strengthening Families Program
Specifically designed for high-risk families due to abuse, neglect, drug/alcohol addiction, and/or behavioral issues, this 10-week program teaches parenting, social, and family life skills. This research-based approach is designed to increase family strengths, enhance child development and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. Five key factors will be covered: parental resilience (managing stress, etc.), social connections, knowledge of child development, concrete support in times of need, as well as social and emotional competence of children. Parents and children work together and separately to help strengthen the family unit as a whole through small, but significant changes. It is recommend that parents and children participate simultaneously (see complimentary program for children below), but it is not required.
Sessions are held every Monday, April 30-July 9 (except Memorial Day) from 9-10 am. Please register here.
