Welcome! We’ve been praying you’d join us!
Yes, really! We know that visiting a new place can be scary, but we promise we don’t bite! We actually think guests are a pretty big deal, and we’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure your experience is a great one! In case you’re still not convinced, we’ve compiled some frequently asked questions and answers to put your mind at ease. How long does a service last? A typical worship service lasts about one hour. (Unless you’re joining us on Christmas or Easter or another jam-packed service full of praise . . . those might last 75-90 minutes or so.) What should I wear? At St. John’s, we believe that what’s on your inside matters most! And, although we’re all unworthy of God’s great love, He wants you to come as you are . . . and so do we. That’s why the dress code runs the gamut! Some worshipers are more decked out than others. There will be people in skirts and slacks. You’ll find others in khakis, jeans and even shorts. No worries about your wardrobe! What about my kids? Jesus loves children and so do we! We offer activity bags in the back of the sanctuary to keep little hands occupied and little minds engaged during services. For children under 3, we also offer a well-staffed nursery just steps away from the sanctuary from 9 am-12 noon each Sunday. We also offer Sunday school for ages 2-high school from 9:30 am-10:30 am. Where do I go? Great question! We actually have two entrances to our sanctuary. If you come in off Jeffco Boulevard, you'll head right up the steps and to the left. If you enter off St. John’s Church Road side, you’ll still head up the steps (just a different staircase) or elevator, but this time you’ll turn to the right. If you're a guest with a physical disability, you'll want to enter on the St. John's Church Road side. Right inside that door (to the left) is an elevator. Take the elevator up one floor and hang a right to head towards the sanctuary. Where do I go if . . . well, I need to go? When you gotta go...we get it! Restrooms are located right outside the sanctuary in the lobby. For your convenience, we also have a family restroom for parents with young children. |
What if I need help?
Well, that’s great! (Don’t we all?!) At each worship service, we have people who . . . well, help! They’re the ones with lanyards. (We told you we’ve been praying--and preparing--for you!) Some of these folks are greeters and some of them are ushers, but they’ve all been waiting for an opportunity to meet you! When in doubt--about anything--just ask someone with a lanyard! They’ll be happy to help answer a question or escort you to anywhere you need to go! And, oh . . . we also have a Guest Services Counter in the area right outside the sanctuary. Stop by there any time! Those folks are there to help, too! Coffee . . . I need coffee! Of course! We’ve got you covered! We welcome--and encourage--you to stop by Founders' Hall in between services on Sunday mornings. (Psst! We have donuts, too!) Founder’s Hall is just a fancy name for our old sanctuary that we outgrew a few years back. It’s right next to the nursery. Or, you could just follow your nose . . . that’ll probably work too! |
Let’s Keep It Real . . .
Here at St. John’s, we actually have been praying for you! But we’re not perfect. So please forgive us if we don’t knock your socks off on the first visit. (It won’t be for lack of trying!) Although we’re super nice, we’re still sinners too! (See? You’ve met your match! We’re the perfect church for those who are not, well...perfect!) We ask for patience and understanding, the benefit of the doubt, and the chance to keep trying. We’ll get it right, we promise! We consider you--and all guests--great gifts from God! And we can’t wait to see you in worship!
